Carrie Leahy has taught for twentyfive years at the middle school & high school levels in Palm Beach and Martin Counties. She is currently in her 14th year conducting an outstanding middle school vocal program of up to 200 students at Independence Middle School in Jupiter. This is her 12th season working with the terrific team and remarkable students at Young Singers of the Palm Beaches.
Ms. Leahy grew up in Palm Beach County and is honored to continue the tradition of choral excellence with students in her community. Her choruses consistently receive the highest ratings at Music Performance Assessments and competition festivals. She also serves as a clinical educator, mentoring college music education students as they embark on their first steps as music teachers. Ms. Leahy was recently recognized as an “Extraordinary Educator” by the Economic Council of Palm Beach County Foundation for her innovative instruction during the pandemic.
A former district chairperson of the Florida Vocal Association, Ms. Leahy is also a member of the National Association for Music Education, Florida Music Education Association, and the American Choral Directors Association. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Miami and a Master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
