Terrion Nelson

Conductor

“Music is what I do and has become a part of who I am,” says Daytona Beach born, now West Palm Beach native, Terrion F. Nelson.

Terrion Nelson has been afforded many opportunities, experiences that have impacted the lives of many youth and adults alike in Palm Beach County and beyond. She is a conductor of the 4th and 5th grade Treble Choir and Treble Ensemble here at YSPB, as well as conductor for the South County and North County choirs.

A recently retired music educator, she spent 34 years of her life sharing her love for music with thousands of students in the Palm Beach County School system. She also served as a teacher, artistic and program director for Inner City Youth “Getting There” Inc. summer program for 31 years, all while making time to provide vocal lessons to students in preparation for auditions and performances.

She has had the privilege to record both an R&B album and a Gospel album in which she wrote and co-produced all the songs on both. The R&B album received airplay on over 90 stations across the U.S.  As the executive producer of her debut gospel album “I Yield,” she was awarded Gospel Music Artist of the Year for 2 years from the Gospel Music Guild of South Florida.

Affectionately known as the “Songbird of Palm Beach County” Mrs. Nelson’s multi-layered voice is often sought after to perform for many events and special occasions throughout Palm Beach County and the U.S. Her most recent opportunities include returning to the stage as leading role in a community play and being chosen as the opening act for nationally acclaimed gospel artist Tasha Cobb at the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.

Mrs. Nelson’s commitment as an educator afforded her to be chosen as Teacher of the Month from the Raymond F. Kravis Center, a nomination for the William T. Dwyer Award, and a recipient of The West Palm Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta’s Women of Excellence Award, just to name a few. Her love for God and music drives her desire to make an impact on the lives of her students and others in hopes that it will not only foster a continuing legacy, but it will foster a belief in themselves and the discipline to achieve success no matter their dreams and goals. She prays that her influence and what she shares with them will ignite a desire to pay it forward so that it becomes a perpetual cycle of giving, sharing and impartation for generations to come.

Mrs. Nelson is a proud graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University where she holds a B.S. Degree in Music Education and was honored to hold the coveted title of Miss FAMU. She is a devoted wife and mother of three beautifully, talented children who are all making their mark in the world of music, dance and entertainment; and two handsome grandsons.

Mrs. Nelson is excited about what God has in store for this next stage of her life, as she is the process of releasing her upcoming single “Grace” and working on a one woman show for 2024.
