Catherine Briggs is a dedicated choral educator with a passion for inspiring young musicians. With over two decades of experience in Palm Beach County, she has consistently led her ensembles to exceptional achievements, including top ratings at state and district festivals and performances at renowned venues like Carnegie Hall, and the Lincoln Center. Recently, her choirs had the privilege of traveling to Europe to perform a mass at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City. Most notably, they were chosen as a featured performing ensemble for the 2023 Florida ACDA Convention.
A graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University and Florida Atlantic University, Catherine pursued further professional development and received her Kodaly Certification from Silver Lake College. She is currently in her first year as the choral director at Bak Middle School of the Arts, having previously led the choral program at West Boca Raton Community High School and Del Prado Elementary School. Additionally, Catherine is a conductor for the Bel Canto choir for the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches.
As the co-founder and president of the non-profit choral organization, Espressivo, Catherine is dedicated to expanding the reach of choral music across all age groups. Through Espressivo, she provides scholarships to students in Palm Beach County pursuing vocal arts studies at the university level. Additionally, Catherine actively participates as an adjudicator and conducts professional development workshops for educators in Palm Beach and Broward County. She was honored to lead Palm Beach County’s Elementary Honor Choir in the annual Spotlight on Young Musicians at the Kravis.
Catherine holds memberships in the National Association for Music Education, the American Choral Director’s Association, and the Florida Vocal Association.
